Happy 2011

I had all intentions of writing before Christmas and using the occasion to wish everyone a happy holiday. And then I experienced the madness of Heathrow - don't worry, I did not get stuck but I saw the field of victims - and thought I may just shut down a little and reflect. I have done that now, thanks for asking, and believe we should postpone Christmas to Easter or the summer. It's just as easy to get together, it's cheaper to get from A to B and the chances that the weather will get between you and your destination are less likely. Happy days!

I also believe that all this reflecting will make me a much wiser person in 2011. Strange, how we believe that magically at midnight we can change who we are - from 23.59 to 00.00 all is different. New start. Yah, right. But maybe the New Year can give us a new impetus towards the things that matter really to us. Well, let's say I'm not hoping to renovate entirely but build on the lessons learned in 2010. One lesson I am learning right now is the benefit of closing and opening doors. My conclusion: I'm going back to my roots and focus on the essentials. I have done enough exploring after being locked up during my research to realise now that I miss it terribly. Hence, the focus will now return to men, gender, consumption and entrepreneurial marketing (which made its way in during 2010). Overall, research has me back and I'm looking forward to writing lots more - seriously.

So, let's get this show on the road and let's not do it all over again, but let's use this New Year to do those things we wanted to do a long time ago. We may actually get them done!! As long as we have something to say, let's get it out there!

Happy 2011 everyone - hope you're starting with as much positive prospects as me.

Frohes Neues Jahr, feliz año nuevo, bonne année, gott nytt år, ath bhliain faoi mhaise, sretna nova godina.
